Dever Architects was commissioned to convert an existing supermarket into a new Whole Foods Market, which features a 26'-0" high glass curtain wall and (12) skylights that flood the organic supermarket with natural day lighting. Located in the Glen Eagle Square shopping center in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, the decidedly modern building is skinned with natural wood siding that uses "Rain Screen" technology to hold the wood away from the exterior wall promoting air circulation, which allows for a longer life span and eliminates mold on the north face of the building.
On March 14, 2012, the Grand Opening for this widely successful store made history as the biggest opening day since Whole Foods Market was established. Whole Foods Market increased their expectations 30% above comparable stores because of the reception from the community.
Dever Architects was thrilled to hear of the store's success and was proud to have had a large role in the building's transformation as Dever Architects had originally designed the unique shopping center that opened in 1990.
