Guests invited to the "Dogwood" housewarming party drove through twelve acres of natural landscape dominated by this home's native namesake tree. Glimpses of this low stone and wood structure revealed a house nestled into the hillside with minimal disturbance to the surroundings. Guests entering the house saw open, flowing daylit spaces and, straight ahead, the outside literally brought in. Directly ahead was the main division between interior spaces, a garden which began outside and continued into the house as a semi-transparent, living wall. The excitement continued as the party experienced the shop, studio and other living spaces.

The general public experienced all of this later when the house was featured in the May, 1991 issue of Delaware Today magazine.
